Secular Student Alliance 2024 National Conference

The SSA National Conference is an opportunity, once a year, to gather with secular student leaders from around the country. During the weekend-long conference, we will help you hone your leadership abilities, build your skills in organizing and growing your chapter, create space to build lasting friendships, and inspire you to accomplish great things.

We are excited to gather in-person at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock this summer and create meaningful secular community together!

While the SSA national conference focuses on the needs of students and student leaders, everyone is invited to attend and participate in the conference workshops and speakers.

The SSA Conference is the only conference in the United States specifically designed with secular students and student leaders in mind.

• If you are a leader or member of an SSA chapter on your campus, this conference is for you.
• If you are a nonreligious student, you need to be at this conference!
• If you're a faculty or staff advisor to an SSA chapter or would like to learn how to support secular students on your campus, please join us!
• If you are an SSA alumni, you are family and we would love to have you join us.
• If you're interested in supporting secular students and want to deepen your understanding of their needs, you are welcome.
• If you work with a local atheist, humanist, or freethought group and want to develop your grassroots organizing skills, please join us.
• If you are nonreligious and want to participate in workshops and experience great speakers, this conference is for you.

The registration fee is kept as cost-effective as possible for students.

Travel and lodging expenses do add up, but there are ways to raise money for this experience. Your campus organizer stands ready to assist you with:

• Support in requesting "leadership development" funds from your student government or student activities office on your campus.
• Running an online, social media campaign to raise funds.  SSA has a template already set up for you to use.  To set up your personal fundraising page, click here.
• Networking with others in your community who might be willing to support you.
• Apply for conference travel grants available directly from SSA.

Students

Students are encouraged to stay at the residence hall on campus. The cost is $30 a night. Housing is a private bedroom, as part of a two-bedroom suite. After you register for the conference, you can also register for housing.

Non-Students

There are a number of hotels at various price ranges within 5-10 minutes of the University of Arkansas, Little Rock.

You should fly to the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport (LIT). The airport is about a 15 minute Lyft or Uber drive from the campus.

Meals are provided as part of the conference, using the campus dining hall and catering at the conference center. Please review the conference schedule for which meals are included.

Water and light snacks will be provided at intervals throughout the conference.

A variety of food options are available on and around the campus.

You are welcome to use your mobile phone, laptop, or tablet to tweet or post photos during conference sessions; free wifi will be available on campus and in the residence halls, however, please be respectful and do your best to not be disruptive to the speaker(s) or those around you.
