This Week: SSA New Team Members, SSA's 2012 Annual Conference, Light the Night

This Week: SSA New Team Members, SSA's 2012 Annual Conference, Light the Night

Hey everyone!

My name is Kevin Butler and I'm the Regional Campus Organizer overseeing Texas.  I'm now at the University of Texas at Dallas after starting a group at my community college, Collin College.  I'm really excited to be here helping the secular students in Texas (and the rest of the country) be amazing! Make sure you sign up for Leadership Travel Aid for our annual conference in July and apply for the Best Awards. Time is running out!

I look forward to working with everyone!

SSA New Team Members

The national SSA is growing fast, adding exciting new members to the team. Our first new hire is Jessica Kirsner (middle), who is our new Development Associate. Jessica just graduated from the University of Miami (hi SHAARKS!) and is supremely excited to be here!

We are also bringing in Gordon Maples (left) and Kevin Butler (right) as our Regional Campus Organizers. Gordon is the founder and organizer of the Southeastern Collegiate Atheist Alliance (SECAA), a network of secular student groups in the southeast formed to promote more stable vertical and horizontal networking between local college groups and national organizations. Kevin and Gordon will be providing hands-on support, group-starting assistance, troubleshooting, etc. for groups within their regions.

SSA's 2012 Annual Conference

Our annual conference is a month and a half away! We have a list of awesome speakers that you can see here. Registration for student members only costs $39. Housing rates are $54 for a single room and $21 per person for a shared room of 4. We're also accepting applications for Leadership Travel Aid (you are eligible for Leadership Travel Aid if you are a student member) to help you get there! Learn more at the conference website page and make it out July 6th!
Leadership Travel Aid is given on a first come, first serve basis so apply and register now!

Light the NightLuke I am ur father

Participation for Light the Night Walk has grown a bunch - look at all the groups that are part of the Freedom Beyond Belief Team! We wanted to remind groups that LLS is rewarding teams that raise $100 or more are entitled to a free movie ticket. Each team gets 1 free ticket per $100 they raise. There is no limit to how many tickets you can get but you must raise the money by May 28th.

Want help fundraising for Light the Night? We sent out fundraising material to groups who have a demonstrated record of charity giving and community. If your group wants to order fundraising material, they can get it here. Happy giving!
