SSA Logo Alteration Guidelines

SSA affiliated groups, upon submission of the SSA Name Use Agreement, are allowed to customize the SSA logo to represent their specific campus group. Any alterations, customizations, inclusions and other projects involving the SSA logo must follow these guidelines.

TL;DR - Check your logo before you wreck our logo!

  1. The logo must retain its original design, words, font, shape and proportions. Rotating the logo or giving it a third dimension are acceptable but must retain the appropriate proportions. Stretching or skewing the logo is unacceptable in every case.
  2. Two alternate colors may be swapped out for the white and black in the logo. However, the darker of the two colors must replace the black and the lighter must replace the white.  No more than two colors may be used. This rule includes the colors of the text.

  3. The white areas of the logo may be made transparent. This will only ever be done over a solid color or subtle background. Any background that distracts from the logo, contains sharp contrasts, or interferes with the legibility of the words is unacceptable.
  4. No more than 15% of the logo shall be covered in the final product. While additional material may be added to the SSA logo, the words "Secular Student Alliance" must be clearly visibile and unobstructed.
  5. Placing a drop shadow behind the entire logo is acceptable. However, placing a drop shadow behind the letters of the logo is unacceptable.
  6. It is acceptable to use our version of the logo without gradients, but unacceptable to alter the gradients in any other way.
  7. Do not attempt to re-create the SSA logo.  We'll gladly give you a copy upon request. Contact our staff or visit our Design Hub for the appropriate files.
