Why the SSA Annual Conference Is So Great!
This article was written by Rolph Recto, a member of Virginia Atheists and Agnostics.
For me, waking up early on a Friday morning usually means a long day ahead at work or taking classes. Instead, on this particular Friday, I woke up early to go on an adventure: I was going to Columbus, Ohio with my fellow VAA friends Scott and Tori to attend the 2013 Secular Students Alliance conference. Needless to say, we were excited, as none of us had attended a VAA-related conference before.
SSA Resources for Individual Students
We know that not every secular student has the opportunity or the time to devote to participating and/or starting a secular student group on their high school or college campus. We have put together a page of resources to better support individual secular student activists, who might otherwise feel like there is no support for them in the movement.
Check back on said page often, as it will grow as we are able to develop and get new resources online to better serve you. If you have any questions or if you would like to submit an idea, please feel free to email us!
SCA's Lobby Day - Early Bird Registration Extended!
The Secular Coalition For America has extended their early bird registration rates for their upcoming Lobby Day and Summit until February 28th.
Last year they were addressed by a sitting U.S. Senator Stark and a sitting U.S. Congressman. This year they are planning an event filled with speakers, thought leaders, panels, and workshops. There will also be a lobbying training before being brought to Capitol Hill to directly lobby their representatives (in groups). The event is from June 12th-June 13th.
Student registration is actually just $25. You can find more details on the SCA website.
