Thanks to all the groups that renewed their affiliation with the Secular Student Alliance! We've heard from most of you, but if you haven't renewed yet, you still have time to get your form in. If you're not sure - ask!

There's a lot going on this week:

Rebecca Goldstein at the New England Leadership Summit
We're excited to have philosopher and novelist Rebecca Newberger Goldstein will be delivering the keynote address at the New England Leadership Summit at Harvard University, April 16-18, 2010.

Goldstein is the author of several noteworthy novels and biographies, including her latest work, 36 Arguments for the Existence of God: A Work of Fiction. Goldstein is currently a Research Associate in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University.

Registration for the New England Leadership Summit is only $25 for student members of the SSA, and travel grants are still available. Learn more and sign up at www.secularstudents.org/newengland.

Rebecca Goldstein to deliver Keynote Lecture at SSA New England Leadership Summit

Rebecca GoldsteinThe Secular Student Alliance is proud to announce that philosopher and novelist Rebecca Newberger Goldstein will be delivering the keynote address at the New England Leadership Summit at Harvard University, April 16-18, 2010.

Goldstein is the author of several noteworthy novels and biographies, including Betraying Spinoza: The Renegade Jew Who Gave Us Modernity, Incompleteness: The Proof and Paradox of Kurt Gödel, and her latest work, 36 Arguments for the Existence of God: A Work of Fiction. Goldstein is currently a Research Associate in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University.

She has earned numerous awards and fellowships for her work, including a MacArthur Fellowship (popularly known as the "Genius Award"), a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Radcliffe Fellowship. Her novel Mazel received the 1995 National Jewish Book Award and the 1995 Edward Lewis Wallant Award. In 2008, Goldstein was designated a Humanist Laureate by the International Academy of Humanism.

Secular Student Alliance Seeks 2010 Summer Interns

The Secular Student Alliance (www.secularstudents.org) is seeking two full-time internships for the summer of 2010.

Internship Details
* These positions are ten weeks long and have a $200/week stipend.
* The start and stop dates are flexible, as are breaks, we only require a commitment of approximately ten weeks sometime between mid May and late September.
* These positions are 40 hr./week ($200) positions and will take place during normal business hours except where otherwise noted.
* We are willing to be flexible in terms of time and stipend to meet academic requirements.
* The interns will work at our office in Columbus, OH.
* On a case-by-case basis, some work may be able to be done via telecommuting.

Our mission is to organize, unite, educate, and serve students and student communities that promote the ideals of scientific and critical inquiry, democracy, secularism, and human based ethics. The bulk of our efforts go into organizing and supporting students and student groups who do not see theism as the source of morality or knowledge--this includes atheists, agnostics, humanists, rationalists and other non-theists. We have over 200 affiliates in nine countries--the vast majority of our affiliates are in the U.S.

The Secular Student Alliance is a 501(c)(3) educational, non-profit, public charity. We were founded in 2000 by students and recent students. We are headquartered in Columbus, OH.
