At the bottom of this page, you will find more detailed information on ideas to obtain monetary assistance.
By far the most common way groups and individuals get to our conference is by car/van/etc. If you have, or someone in your group has, a vehicle capable of getting you to Las Vegas, NV then that might be your best choice. This is made especially easier if there are several people riding in the vehicle who can split gas costs for the trip. If you are driving to Vegas and you have open seats to filll, be sure to check our Ride Share board. If you need to find a ride to Vegas, you can try to find a ride on that board as well. To log into the board, use the password "ssarocks".
The address for the UNLV campus is 4505 S. Maryland Pkwy.
Las Vegas, NV 89154.
See the bottom of the page for funding opportunities.
Coming from Texas? Check out the Texas Carpool!
Vegas has a major airport (McCarran Intl) which is easily accesible from where you will be staying for the conference (UNLV campus or nearby). Airfare is not usually too bad if you book a decent amount of time in advance. However, airfare is almost always going to be more expensive than traveling by road.
When you register for the conference, you will have the opportunity to tell us your flight information so that we can schedule a pick-up time for you. That way you do not have to worry about paying for a cab or anything like that. We will be providing a shuttle to and from the airport on Friday and Sunday. You can request a pick up until June 10th; after that you are on your own so be sure to let us know before then!
Of course, the SSA will also offer leadership travel aid to assist in costs. We also recommend checking with your campus, as said above, to see if funding is available.
If you would like to put in a pick-up request, please fill out this form.
Greyhound has a stop in Vegas about 15 minutes from campus; if you come in by bus, you will have to make your own way to UNLV. Greyhound can be a bit pricey and often has issues getting in at the scheduled time. These are issues to be aware of when considering this transportation option.
As mentioned with the other options, always be on the lookout for opportunities to get funding support.
There are more options to seek potential funding than you might necessarily think of. For a detailed list of ideas, please check out this page.
